Audiences will have to take a few extra weeks to enjoy The View once again.
New episodes of The View aren’t on this week — or for the next several, in fact — as the long-running talk show begins a lengthy hiatus in preparation of a landmark edition of the ABC program.
As it does every year, the show is on a break for the next month or so, with the season 29 finale having aired Friday, July 24, in anticipation of the series’ upcoming season 30 later this year.
Friday’s pre-taped installment concluded season 29’s run with appearances by actress Molly Ringwald and the cast of Broadway’s The Lost Boys, who performed for the studio audience.

In place of new episodes, The View will air repeats in the weeks ahead. This week, encore broadcasts will span a range of past guests, including Kate Hudson and Justin Theroux (in an episode that saw Whoopi Goldberg and Sara Haines smack each other on air), Alina Habba, and a trio of episodes featuring guest cohost and former regular panelist Elisabeth Hasselbeck.
An exact return date for The View has yet to be announced, though the show typically returns from its annual summer hiatus during the first week of September.
The View‘s 29th season was one of its liveliest in recent years, and marked another yearlong installment with a permanent panel that hasn’t changed in four years — one of the longest fixed panels the show has ever had across its three-decade history.
Besides Goldberg and Haines, permanent cohosts include Joy Behar, Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, and former Donald Trump White House staffer Alyssa Farah Griffin.
While the program remains a top-rated broadcast in the daytime space, season 29 drew the ire of both the White House and the Federal Communications Commission — both of which have regularly spoken out against the show. The FCC and conservative pundits have claimed The View has a liberal bias, and said that the show violated an “equal time” rule regarding fair airtime for political candidates when it conducted an interview with Texas senate candidate James Talarico (entertainment-style talk shows have traditionally been exempt from the rule).
Earlier this year, Disney, ABC’s parent company, filed a petition for declaratory ruling against the FCC for what it said were alleged actions that “threaten to upend decades of settled law and practice and chill critical protected speech, both with respect to The View and more broadly.”

In June, The View even invoked the face and voice of its founder, the late Barbara Walters, in an on-air ad that criticized the FCC and urged viewers to push back against the organization’s actions.
FCC head Brendan Carr said in February that the FCC would be “taking a look at” The View prior to “an enforcement action underway,” and also mounted an open meeting where he claimed the show went against the “equal time” rule.
The View has included a range of political guests across season 29, including former First Lady Dr. Jill Biden and Vice President JD Vance.
The View season 30 premieres later this year on ABC.
