💰📺 “PEOPLE WOULD BE SHOCKED.” WHOOPI GOLDBERG HAS FINALLY ADDRESSED HER THE VIEW PAYCHECK—BUT STOPPED JUST BEFORE REVEALING THE NUMBER EVERYONE WANTED TO HEAR. After nearly two decades at the centre of television’s most talked-about daytime panel, Whoopi was asked what she enjoys most about the job. Her answer was immediate, unapologetically honest—and far removed from the polished response viewers might have expected. The EGOT winner then offered a tantalising clue about just how lucrative her seat at the table has become, while explaining why the financial security still means so much to her. But when it came to the actual figure, Whoopi left one enormous question hanging.

Whoopi Goldberg is hinting at her massive payday for co-hosting The View.

The longtime moderator, 70, gave Keke Palmer the inside scoop on her salary during the latest episode of the Baby, This Is Keke Palmer podcast.

Halfway through the Tuesday, Aug. 4, episode, Palmer, 32, asked the EGOT winner what her “favorite” part about being on the show is. “The check,” Goldberg joked. “I love the check.”

“I can only imagine what that check is,” Palmer responded, as Goldberg clarified that “no,” she “can’t.”

“Trust me,” Goldberg said. “You can’t. You would be shocked. Listen, you would be shocked. … As soon as they’d show you that check, you’d be like, ‘What the…?’”

Palmer called Goldberg’s called it “incredible,” while Goldberg responded, “It is what it is.”

The View star said she’s grateful for her stability on the long-running daytime talk show. “I look around every day before I leave my house and I see my family and I see pictures of folks and I think, ‘Oh, yeah, it’s good to have a job.’ And I come to work… A lot of people don’t have jobs right now, so I’m lucky. I like to talk. I like talking about stuff. I like people. And I’m okay with what I think I believe, and I don’t mind doing that.”

She added, “Even when that irritates people, that’s what the show is. It’s not irritation necessarily, but it’s called The View.”

Goldberg has been an integral part of the show’s panel since its 11th season in 2007. She is the second-most tenured voice on the program, behind Joy Behar, and the pair currently sit at the table alongside co-hosts Sunny Hostin, Ana Navarro, Sara Haines and Alyssa Farah Griffin for its 29th season on ABC.

Elsewhere during Palmer’s podcast, Goldberg reflected on how she “needed a job” when she got the offer from series creator Barbara Walters.

“Barbara offered me a job. She said, ‘We just lost one of the people on the show, would you consider coming over?’” Goldberg recalled. “And I’d been doing a radio show, and I said, ‘Absolutely, yeah.’ She brought me over and it’s like I’ve been crazy-glued to that chair.”

The View airs weekdays at 11 a.m. ET on ABC.
