As the tributes pour in for Dolly Parton in the wake of her death at age 80, her younger sister, Stella Parton, is sharing a new detail about her final days.

Stella, 77, a fellow country singer-songwriter, posted a tribute to her big sister on Thursday, Aug. 27, sharing on Facebook, “Dolly got her wings this past Tuesday.”

In her lengthy message, Stella revealed that Dolly was focused on helping others right until the very end.

“My sister was one of the most generous, thoughtful and kind people I’ve ever known,” Stella wrote. “What the world saw is exactly who she was, so much so, she told me recently that if there was no hope for her, she would still allow her medical team to try experimental drugs in the hope of helping others in the future.”

Reps for the “Jolene” singer previously told PEOPLE that she died after a “brief battle with cancer.” The type of cancer was not disclosed.

“My sister was always thinking of others and if you want to honor her legacy, show more kindness, lift others up and give more of your time and resources, as she continued to do to the very end,” Stella continued.

Dolly, who was one of 12 siblings, would have a weekly coffee date with Stella on Tuesday mornings.

“Every Tuesday about this time before the sun came up and the world was still asleep, she and I for many years had our coffee together over the phone,” Stella recalled, crediting their upbringing on a farm for their early rising. “As she liked to say: ‘shoot Tedda we get more work done before the sun comes up than most folks do all day long!’ ” Stella added that they would catch up on gossip, as sisters do, drink coffee and make plans, as had always been their way.

Stella added, “My Tuesday morning coffee time will never be the same but her love, respect and goodness will remain.”

The country singer said her older sister will be “showing out big time in all her sparkles and shine” in heaven.

Stella said that seeing the “outpouring of love and respect” has helped their family to grieve.

“Dolly loved the world and everyone in it,” Stella wrote. “I would criticize and complain about it and she would laugh and say; ‘shoot Tedda, we’ve got more important things to do than worry about their silly asses.’ She was right and she proved it everyday.”

Stella concluded her post, writing, “She left the world a better place by being in it so let’s follow her example.”

Four days before her death, Dolly shared a statement about her health with PEOPLE.

“As I’ve shared in video messages throughout the past year, I am dealing with some health issues that I just didn’t pay attention to when I was watching over Carl,” she said of her late husband, Carl Dean. “You know, this isn’t the first time I’ve had to manage something like this. Back in the early ‘80s, I was down for several months with female issues, and I was struggling with my weight at the time too, so it’s not like I haven’t been through hard times with my health.”

Dolly added: “But I think because we live in a 24/7 world with social media, everything gets magnified in ways it wasn’t years ago. I used to joke that I was the Queen of the Tabloids, but now I guess I can say I’m the Queen of Social Media AI! Seriously, though, even though I’m still healin’, I’m still workin’! You know me — as I’ve often said — I’ve dreamed myself into a corner and I still have so many things I want to achieve, so I’m gonna keep on working as long as I can to see everything come to life.”
