Andrew Mountbatten-Windsor, previously known as Prince Andrew, has become a recluse since he was arrested on his 66th birthday back in February. The disgraced ex-Duke of York is rarely seen outside of his new home at Marsh Farm after his brother King Charles stripped him of all his princely titles and privileges last year.
However, Andrew still has one major privilege available to him that’s typically reserved for senior members of the royal family.

According to the Daily Mail, Andrew is still on a top-secret list of royals who will receive high-profile royal ceremonial funerals when they die. Per the publication, the confidential plans—which are known as “bridge plans”—are set up years in advance and include meticulous instructions detailing where the late royal will be laid to rest, how their body will be transported if needed, and any security measures.
The bridge plans aren’t known to the public until the royal passes away, but according to the publication, it is believed that Andrew will have a funeral service at St. George’s Chapel, following in the footsteps of royals like the late Queen Mother, Princess Margaret, Queen Victoria, and Prince Phillip.

However, the Daily Mail reported that Andrew will be buried at the Royal Burial Ground at Frogmore in Windsor rather than the Royal Vault below St. George’s Chapel. The 33-acre private cemetery is typically reserved for junior royals and extended members of the royal family, but People reported that more senior members have been buried in the Home Park plot since 1930 due to space issues.
Frogmore is also the resting place of former King Edward VIII, who abdicated the throne in 1936 to wed divorcée Wallis Simpson. The Duke of Windsor, who was Queen Elizabeth II’s uncle, also had an official royal funeral service at St George’s Chapel, although it was not a full state funeral.

Andrew, who is part of an ongoing police investigation due to his relationship with convicted sex offender Jeffrey Epstein, also lost his honorary rank as vice admiral in the Royal Navy in 2025. However, retired Rear Admiral Chris Parry told the Daily Mail that he believes that Andrew might still have some military pomp and circumstance during his funeral, as he was not forced to relinquish his war medals.
