Dolly died peacefully on Tuesday (August 25), leaving behind an extraordinary legacy that touched generations around the world.

According to an obituary from Woodlawn-Roesch-Patton Funeral Home & Woodlawn Memorial Park, Dolly will be remembered as a beloved global icon and humanitarian whose extraordinary career spanned seven decades and reached across music, film, television, theater and literature.

Dolly was one of 12 children born to Avie Lee and Robert Lee Parton Sr. She is preceded in death by her husband, Carl Dean, who she married in 1966. The couple remained together for nearly 60 years and did not have children.
