Reba McEntire and Rex Linn‘s wedding is still on hold.

The Happy’s Place costars got engaged at their Tennessee ranch on Christmas Eve in 2024 and confirmed their engagement in September 2025. While chatting with E! News at NBCUniversal’s Backlot Pass event on Monday, Aug. 10, McEntire explained the delay in her wedding plans.

“We’re just waiting until we have an open spot to have the wedding,” the singer and actress said. “Get it planned and print those invitations.”

While standing beside the bride-to-be, Happy’s Place star Belissa Escobedo, 27, noted that McEntire, 71, and Linn, 69, are “two of the busiest people.” She added of the pair, “Always on a new job, something.”

Since getting engaged, McEntire and Linn have repeatedly said that they’re prioritizing work over wedding planning. The “Fancy” singer told PEOPLE in November 2025, “Have no idea when we’re going to set a date. Work comes first, so we’ll see.”

Although McEntire and Linn haven’t set their wedding date yet, they previously revealed that they plan to marry on their ranch in Tennessee. This is largely because they can’t imagine their wedding without their animals.

“We’re going to have to have dogs there. I have two granddogs, Watson and Belle, so they may be the ring bearers or something like that, but we have to have our animals in there,” McEntire told Extra in May. “We’ve got longhorns and donkeys, horses and everything there at the place, cats. We have a lot of fun with them.”

She teased that the celebration will be “low-key, lots of friends and family.”

McEntire was previously married twice, first to Charlie Battles from 1976 to 1987. She wed her second ex-husband, Narvel Blackstock, in 1989, and they divorced 26 years later in 2015.

“A Reba/Rex wedding is going to be very different,” the Reba star told PEOPLE in December. “It’s going to be low-key, lots of fun, lots of people, lots of food. Our big motto is just have fun.”

Once the couple can fit the celebration into their busy schedules, Reba alum Melissa Peterman is ready to make their wedding cake. She playfully volunteered for the job in March.

“I will bake her wedding cake. I got to start because that’s going to be a lot. I would make her wedding cake. Yes, I will make your wedding cake, Reba McEntire,” the actress, 55, told PEOPLE, adding, “And I will do a banana pudding, Nilla Wafer. I’ll make a bride and groom on the top out of Nilla Wafers, which she’ll love. I will do it. I’m in!”
