Police have stepped up an urgent hunt to find a 10-year-old boy who vanished two days ago with officers saying they are becoming “increasingly concerned”.

Dougie is missing from Hoddesdon in Hertfordshire and was last seen on Tuesday evening. The schoolboy is described as being of short and stocky build, with dark brown hair. He also often wears gold jewellery.

Herts Police are urging anyone with information to come forward immediately. The force said in a statement: “Thank you to everyone who has shared Dougie’s appeal.

“We understand people are concerned and want to help, particularly in light of recent events. Every missing person investigation is different and enquiries are tailored to the individual circumstances of each case.

“We remain focused on finding Dougie and are grateful for the public’s continued support. Please keep sharing the appeal and contact police with any relevant information.”

After a massive response on social media, the force thanked people for their concern and said they were “focused on finding Dougie”.

The news comes a day after a child’s body was found in a pond in Brantham, Suffolk in the search for missing three-year-old Noah Woods. Hundreds of volunteers had poured into the town to help with the search.
