The Archer County and Foard County rodeo communities are remembering the vibrant, full-speed life of 13-year-old Wayne Paul West, who passed away on August 15. The beloved son of Lauren and Zane West, Wayne Paul lived every day immersed in the Western lifestyle, leaving behind a legacy of faith, family devotion, and an enduring passion for ranching and rodeo.
Rooted in Western Heritage and Ranch Life
Wayne Paul was born into a deep-rooted rodeo tradition. His mother, Lauren, previously organized the local rodeo queen pageant and shared a profound love for Western heritage, while his father, Zane, grew up competing and participating in the Archer County Rodeo alongside his longtime supporter parents.
Wayne Paul carried that same passion forward with tireless dedication:

Passion for the Arena: He spent endless hours roping the dummy, sharpening his skills, and preparing for his future in the arena.

Love for the Land and Animals: He loved horses, worked closely with his father training colts, and cherished his two dogs, Willis and Lou.

Three Circle Ranch: Wayne Paul held a special excitement for working at his family’s Three Circle Ranch in Foard County, looking forward to spending more time on the land that meant so much to his family.

Faith First: Above all his activities, Wayne Paul held a deep and sincere love for Jesus.
Big Ambitions and a Heart for Family
Beyond his ranching pursuits, Wayne Paul was a student at Archer City Junior High, an active athlete, a loyal friend, and above all, a fiercely protective and proud older brother to his sibling, Monroe.
Though his life was cut short at just 13 years old, Wayne Paul dreamed boldly about the future:
