King Charles is reportedly set to travel to the US in April as part of a visit to revitalise a key trade deal which had been put on “pause” by President Donald Trump. Although his work will be full of work commitments, Prince Harry is said to be eager for his dad to make a gap in his schedule to visit his home in California to see his two youngest grandchildren, six-year-old Prince Archie and four-year-old Princess Lilibet.
The King, 77, is thought to have last spent time with Archie and Lilibet in June 2022. The meeting took place during the Sussexes’ last joint visit to the UK to attend celebrations for the late Queen Elizabeth II’s Platinum Jubilee.
Known to have a very close relationship with Prince George, 12, Princess Charlotte, 10, and seven-year-old Prince Louis, King Charles is said to be eager to grow a closer bond with Archie and Lilibet.
Despite visiting the UK in 2022, Archie and Lilibet have not spent any more time in their father’s home country due to his fears for their safety.
Harry has spoken of his fears about bringing his wife and two children to the UK after losing his right to police protection on home soil in 2020.
As reported by the Mail on Sunday, Harry is keen for his dad to visit his home in California this year.
A source has said: “Harry has made it clear that he would love his dad to come and visit him and the family.
“He knows that they are strained, but he has mentioned several times a hope that his father can have a relationship with his grandchildren.”
Although the Duke and Duchess of Sussex travelled to the UK in September 2022, Archie and Lilibet remained in the US during their three-week visit.
