A bored looking Prince Louis was snapped in a rare public appearance alongside his siblings and Prince William and Princess Kate for the kids’ first official visit to Scotland

Prince Louis is attending his first major sporting event this afternoon, as he joined the Prince and Princess of Wales and his siblings to watch Netball at the Glasgow 2026 Commonwealth Games.
The family of five took their seats in a packed stadium for the semi final clash between Australia and Jamaica, with the children sandwiched between the Prince and Princess of Wales.
Kensington Palace announced that the Duke and Duchess of Rothesay, as they are known in Scotland, would be attending the penultimate day of the so-called “friendly games” this morning.

Despite this, the appearances of Prince George, 13, Princess Charlotte, 11, and Louis, eight, was kept under wraps. It marks the first time the children have been publicly seen in Scotland.
Louis, who is famous for his playful antics and his unfiltered facial expressions, regularly attends set-piece royal events such as the Christmas and Easter church services and Trooping the Colour, but he has only ever attended one public engagement.

This was in May 2023 as part of the King’s Coronation celebrations, where he joined his parents and siblings at a Big Help Out volunteering initiative.
His appearance at the Commonwealth Games today also marks the first time little Louis has attended a major sporting fixture, as unlike his older siblings who frequently join their parents at key football and tennis matches such as the Euros and Wimbledon, Louis has yet to join them.

His appearance today therefore marks a major milestone for the young royal, and he looked delighted to take a seat inside the 5,000 seater Hydro for the second semi final in the Women’s Netball.
The family of five were warmly welcomed inside the arena, as they looked forward to a tense match between the World’s No 1 team Australia and Birmingham 2022 silver medalists, Jamaica.
Later on Saturday, William and Catherine will spend time with Team Wales athletes and their families.
Before the games the future King chatted to five Team Wales athletes – lawn and indoor bowler Ross Owen, blind para bowler Julie Thomas and her guide John Wilson, and weightlifters Madaline Connelly and Catrin Haf Jones – when he visited the London Welsh School in Hanwell, west London.
The royal couple will also spend time with athletes competing at the games whose careers have been empowered by the charity SportsAid, which Catherine has supported as patron since 2013, and meet emerging talent taking part in the Team England Futures project.
Sporting stars whose early promise was boosted by SportsAid include Sir Chris Hoy, Ellie Simmonds, Dame Jessica Ennis-Hill and Tom Daley.
The Commonwealth Games, affectionately known as “the friendly games”, started on July 23, following a spectacular Opening Ceremony that saw the King and Queen emerge from Doctor Who ’s Tardis.
Over the nine days of action so far, the Duke and Duchess of Edinburgh and the Princess Royal have attended several days of the sporting action.
William and Catherine visited the Games the last time it was held in Glasgow in 2014, accompanied by the prince’s younger brother, Prince Harry.
