The team behind the reboot began with an empty, snow-covered field and constructed an entire pioneer settlement from the ground up — including two enormous log cabins built according to methods described in Laura Ingalls Wilder’s books. More than 200 art-department workers and 32 costume specialists reportedly obsessed over details most viewers may never consciously notice: buttonholes sewn by hand, nails hammered into shoe soles and damaged fabric reused later as doll clothing or household cloths. Yet the greatest challenge came when the script required viewers to watch the Ingalls cabin being built piece by piece.
