“Home to Us” is more than just a new song from Paul McCartney, the latest preview of his upcoming album The Boys of Dungeon Lane — it’s his first-ever duet with Paul’s longtime friend and former band mate in The BeatlesRingo Starr.

This special collaboration was shared on Friday by McCartney as the second song debuted from the record, which will be released in full May 29.

Here’s the track:

“Home to Us” is also notable for being the only song on The Boys of Dungeon Lane to feature a guest drummer; Sir Paul recorded the majority of instruments for the album by himself.

Here’s more on the collaboration, as revealed earlier this week by McCartney at a special event at Abbey Road Studio Two:

“Ringo went round to the studio and drummed a bit. I said to Andrew, ‘We should make a track and send it to him.’ So this song is done totally with Ringo in mind. In writing the song I’m talking about where we came from. In common with a lot of people, you come from nothing and you build yourself up. Ringo was from the Dingle, and that was well hard. He said he used to get mugged coming home, because he worked. Even though it was crazy, it was home to us. I made the song around that idea and sent it to Ringo. He sent me back a version where he just added some lines to the chorus, so I thought, ‘Maybe he doesn’t like it.’ I rang him and he said he thought I only wanted him to sing one or two lines, and I said I’d love to hear him sing the whole thing. So we took my first line, Ringo’s second line, and then we had a duet. We’d never done that before. Then we wanted some backing vocals and I had the idea it would be nice to hear girls. Chrissie Hynde said she’d do it, and Sharleen Spiteri, they’re mates. So they did it.”

Home to Us” joins the wistful “Days We Left Behind” as the second pre-release single:

And don’t forget, there are four highly anticipated Beatles biopics from director Sam Mendes coming in 2028, as well.

The Boys of Dungeon Lane will be the first new solo album from McCartney in over five years, with a news release characterizing its material as a “collection of rare and revealing glimpses into memories never-before shared along with some newly inspired love songs.”

These songs were borne out of a creative partnership between McCartney and Andrew Watt — the super producer who in recent years has amassed a strong reputation in the music scene and worked on several new albums from the likes of The Rolling Stones, Elton John, Iggy Pop, Pearl Jam (and Eddie Vedder) and more.
