Man, 21, is ‘crushed to death’ in workplace accident at his family’s firm
A 21-year-old man has died after a workplace accident at an industrial yard.
Steven Dougall, of Falkirk, passed away in hospital after the incident on July 21 when he was ‘crushed’.
Tributes have poured in for Steven on social media while hundreds attended a balloon release memorial at Dollar Park in Falkirk last Tuesday.
The incident happened at an industrial yard in Falkirk, run by Horizon Reinforcing & Crane Hire Co. Ltd, the Dougall family business where he worked.
Scotland Police said: ‘Around 9.55am on Tuesday, 21 July, 2026, we were called to a report of a man seriously injured at an industrial premises on Castle Drive in Falkirk.
‘Emergency services attended and a 21-year-old man was taken to Forth Valley Royal Hospital in Larbert by ambulance where he died a short time later. His family is aware.
‘The death is not being treated as suspicious however enquiries are ongoing to establish the full circumstances. The Health and Safety Executive has been made aware.’
Central Funeral Services said: ‘It is with great sadness and on behalf of Steven and Kimberley, we announce the funeral service for their beloved son, Steven.
‘Steven passed away on 21st July 2026, aged 21 years old. He will be missed deeply.
‘The funeral service will be held at 09.45am on Saturday 8th August at Falkirk Crematorium. All who knew Steven are warmly invited to attend.’

Tributes have poured in for Steven, with his family and the wider local community devastated by his passing.
A board message from Scottish Premiership team Falkirk FC to the fans said: ‘We also remember Steven Dougall, whose family have a long-standing and valued connection with the club. Our thoughts remain with them, and with everyone who knew and loved Steven.’
Steven’s Dad said in a comment on Facebook: ‘Love you forever Steve we miss you so so much lots of love from, Mum & Dad your wee sis Katelyn & your 2 wee bros.’
An obituary posted online said: ‘The Falkirk community is mourning the heartbreaking loss of Steven Dougall, whose passing at the age of 21 has left his family, friends and loved ones devastated.
‘Tributes shared in his memory reflect the profound impact he had on those around him and the deep sense of loss felt by everyone who knew him.
‘Steven is being remembered as a hardworking, kind-hearted young man with ambitious goals and a bright future ahead of him… those closest to Steven remember him for his warm personality, infectious sense of humour, determination, and ability to create lasting memories with family and friends.’
Steven’s life was also celebrated in a memorial match last week staged by Pantry FC, the local Monday league six-a-side team he played for.
The team said: ‘Steven Dougall was the heart of Pantry and great friends with everyone involved, nobody was as competitive and infectious as him when it came to football in any form.
‘The sudden loss of Steven has hurt everyone so deeply.
‘We’d like to thank everyone who took part in this and especially all those who came to watch the game and support the boys in playing this match for Steven.
‘It meant the world to those playing and to Steven’s family to see how many people turned out for him.’
