At an emotional service held Sunday, August 23, at Boulevard-Riverside Chapels in Hewlett, New York, family and community members gathered to mourn 40-year-old Allison Rahmani, the beloved Long Island educator and mother of four who died after her SUV entered her family’s backyard pool.

The funeral took place on the exact day Allison and her husband, Matthew Rahmani, had been scheduled to board a flight for an anniversary vacation to Paris.

A Husband’s Tribute: The ‘Woman of Valor’

Matthew Rahmani, president of Irving Place Minyan Modern Orthodox Synagogue in Woodmere, delivered a tearful eulogy, paying tribute to his late wife by reciting the Eshet Chayil (Woman of Valor), the traditional Jewish hymn husbands sing to their wives:

“I’m sorry I didn’t say that at her wedding. I can’t imagine more fitting words for the woman you were… Every major decision point in our lives, you took me by the hand, you pulled me, you said it would be OK, that you believed in me, in us.”
