Actress Hayden Panettiere died on Sunday, August 16, at the age of 36.

Her father, Skip, confirmed the heartbreaking news of her passing to ABC News. His statement read:

“It is with profound sadness that we share the tragic passing of our beloved Hayden. She was an incredible light and a force of nature who brought immeasurable love and joy to all who knew her — and to the millions who watched her onscreen.”

Reports say Panettiere was traveling from Los Angeles to the south with her boyfriend, Brian Hickerson, before her death.

Police in Greenville, South Carolina, confirmed that officials arrived at a local apartment complex around 1:50 p.m. Sunday after receiving a report of an unresponsive woman.

She was later identified as Panettiere and was pronounced dead at the scene.

At the time of this report, an official cause of death has not been announced. The investigation is still ongoing as of Monday morning (August 17).

However, a new update from Greenville police suggests that there is no suspected foul play, and Panettiere’s death does not appear to be suspicious.
